Data Silos

Data silos are like islands of data where data is stored in separate systems in an organization. The data belongs to or is controlled by one specific department and is not readily accessible to others. Data silos occur when departments set up their separate software systems, databases or processes to collect and store the company data. Data silos negatively impact an organization as it delays the decision-making process, leads to redundant work and lack of cooperation between different units of a company.
